Testosterone: The Secret Behind Male Virility

Testosterone is what separates the men from the boys.

It is also the primary sex hormone that determines male sex characteristics and also responsible for increased muscle mass, bone mass, libido, potency and sperm production in the body.

Anything to do with being male and male virility is some way or another linked to testosterone.

Any man looking to increase their virility, strength, stamina or libido should play close attention to their own testosterone levels.

Testosterone Levels in Men are Dropping…Quickly

A new study has found a “substantial” drop in men’s testosterone levels since the 1980’s (and it is not age related).

It is generally established that man’s testosterone levels decrease at between 1-2% per year, but the findings in this study were far in excess of that.

According to data from the Massachusetts Male Aging Study, a study conducted with over 1,700 Boston area men from 1987 until 2004, “the researchers observed a speedier decline in average testosterone levels than would have been expected with aging alone”.

According to Antti Perheentupa M.D., Ph.D, from the University of Turki in Finland, the results of his study suggested lower testosterone levels were occurring in younger men too.

Research is now clearly pointing to the fact our own grandfathers and our great grandfathers had more testosterone than we do today.

How do you know if you have low testosterone?

There are a number of well known symptoms of low testosterone, some of them can include:

  • Low or no sex drive
  • Weight gain (especially around the abdominal area)
